Pilates is the ultimate mind-body exercise for anyone who wants to tone, streamline, increase flexibility, and take their fitness to a whole new level. The focus of this work is on trunk stability and conscious exercise with the focus on breathing and precise movement targeting those important abdominal and back muscles. 



LVTC's pilates program is headed by Stott Pilates Lead Instructor, Michele Melvin.

The LVTC Pilates Staff of physical therapists and Stott Pilates certified instructors are proud of the integrity of Pilates brought to our members. Our exceptional Pilates Instructors are dedicated to staying current with all research and information that could take our clients to a higher level with their Pilates training.

Sessions are 55 minutes and incorporate mat, reformer, cadillac, chair and other apparatus.

Session Fees:

$70/session for private

$42/session for semi-private

$33/session three-person class

$28/four person class

$25/ five person class

Non-members pay an additional $10 per person per class.


Because Pilates needs to be progressed as understanding for the principles is gained, the Pilates Department puts together groups of up to 5 for group session in Mat or Reformer. All clients are started together and progress together.

Michele has always had a passion for sports and wellness. She graduated with a Master’s degree in Physical Therapy in 1998 from Mount St. Mary's College. After working in a variety of Physical Therapy settings, she saw a gap between when her patients were discharged and their pre-injury level of function and found Pilates to be the key to bridging that gap.  In 2002, she received her mat and pilates equipment certification through Physical Mind Institute and continued certification with STOTT Pilates as well. Michele loves to work with a variety of clients and levels and her goal is to educate her clients and help them reach their personal goals and optimal health.





Colleen Fitzpatrick

Colleen grew up in Livermore and was active in ballet and jazz dancing. Pilates was one of the main forms of conditioning in dance and definitely helped in the areas of increased flexibility, strength, and recovery time while also reducing potential injury. Colleen is a STOTT Pilates Certified Instructor and enjoys teaching the incredible benefits of Pilates. Pilates helps individuals feel their best whether it be improved posture alignment, strength, and or mobility! In addition to practicing and teaching Pilates, Colleen delights in being an auntie to her adorable identical twin nephews and staying active hiking, running, and biking while encouraging her friends and family to join in!





Jami Johnson

Jami’s lifetime love of sports and being active led to her love of exploring everything the human body is capable of in motion and movement. She discovered in 2007 that Pilates resolved her chronic knee, lower back and neck pain where other methods had not. She received Stott Pilates certification in 2010 and has continued her education with many athletic and rehabilitation courses, including the Balanced Body Movement Medicine series. Passionate about helping others live in their bodies with less pain and more awareness, she is inspired to share the amazing benefits of this strengthening, posture-correcting and healing work. Jami continues to enjoy a complementary active lifestyle, including biking and hiking around the beautiful Bay Area.







Michelle Portteus

Michelle has been involved in the health and fitness industry for many years and has a strong passion for holistic living. Michelle was introduced to Pilates after having her second child. She immediately felt connected to the work and was amazed at the changes she was able to see and feel in herself.  She is enthusiastic, passionate and she thrives on supporting her clients in reaching their personal goals.  Michelle is STOTT Pilates certified in Mat, Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrels and holds certificates in Injuries & Special Populations, Barre and other small equipment.  She also holds a B.S. degree in Kinesiology with an emphasis in Fitness Nutrition and Health. She joined the LVTC Pilates program in 2015.







Deanna (Dee) Rizzo

Deanna was introduced to Pilates in 2001. She fell in love with Pilates and how strong and mobile it made her feel after recovering from back and repetitive-use injuries. She was certified by STOTT Pilates and started working at LVTC in 2006.  She continued her education by getting certified in the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Program and also in TRX Group Suspension and in TRX Sports Medicine Suspension. She also has become a Post-Rehab Conditioning, Golf Conditioning, and Athletic Conditioning Specialist through STOTT Pilates. Deanna became a CORE instructor in 2016. Deanna truly believes that wherever you are on the spectrum, Pilates can really improve the quality of movement in your life.

Dina has been a practicing physical therapist for 28 years and an exercise enthusiast her whole life, with a background in gymnastics from grade school through high school. She has always had a passion for helping people reach their optimal health and fitness potential. She is currently working at Physical Therapy Specialties in Pleasanton, where she has been for the past 9 years. She has been using Pilates in her PT practice for most of those 9 years and has received more extensive Stott Pilates rehabilitation training over the last 2 years. She loves the natural carryover of mindful movement from the Pilates world into Physical therapy rehabilitation. When she isn't working as a PT or teaching Pilates, you may well see her in the pool or out on the trails hiking, biking or running.




Heather Walsh

Heather is a licensed Physical Therapist and a STOTT Pilates Certified Instructor.

She has been a Pilates instructor at LVTC since 2001 and enjoys working with all age groups. Heather has been practicing Physical Therapy at Children’s Hospital Oakland since 1997 and is also currently working in the Sports Medicine Center for Young Athletes. She was drawn to Pilates because it is designed to create an increase in body awareness, strength and flexibility-three principles that she believes are extremely important in maintaining good physical health.
